In Y2008 the world market of vegetable oils has been stable due to its sufficient resources, but this tendency has an exception – for rape and palm oils which prices continue to grow.

Vegetable oils are used in production of the widest food products assortment – from salads dressings to margarine. In February and March the oils prices were the utmost, and now, it is for the first time when the prices for these ingredients begin to decline.

The European research agency Food & Agribusiness Research expert Dirk Jan Kennes forecasts the further market jumps in this sector – even till Y2010. Anyway he thinks that in the nearest future there will be no price rise for the vegetable oils.

The majority of marketers agrees with Kennes and notes the biggest demand among all the vegetable oils presented at the market to be for palm and rapeseed oils. As regards the rape it is popular due to its 100% naturalness and application in production of pure food ingredients.

The scientists suppose that the modern tendency to refuse from adding of saturated fats to the food will lead to the considerable demand growth for rapeseed oil which has a low fat constituent.

The limited deliveries of rape to Europe will still remain the sole problem for the EC market. As for palm oil it has good future in comparison with soy and rape due to its relative cheapness.

Now palm oil is one of the most popular oils among all kinds of vegetable oils in confectionary industry because of its capability to influence on making the desired shapes for cakes, pies and other bakery products.

 “This is a unique ingredient, - says the nameless source of Uniliever company. – The palm oil has a surprising flexibility and, therefore, it can be applied in very different ingredient combinations. It is an important advantage compared with other oils which have a confined application sphere”.
